Interviews
In this episode we feature Wang Hui [Xi'an, 1969] principal of Limited Design. He represents the second generation of chinese architects -after Wang Shu and Liu Jiakun- who had their entire education in their homecountry.
Wang came into this scene by working with chinese legend Yung Ho Chang, during the first years of his Atelier FCJZ [1998-2003]. After establishing two prior small partnerships [MIMA Design and NENO Design] he started Limited Design all by himself in 2006.
Wang is a strange figure in the local scene, pledging for slowness, detail and -mostly- time. These might seem normal for many but is an example of resistance in the chinese context.
In this interview he explains why he adopted this stance and how it is shared among a few more local architects. Afterwards, he continues explaining how he deals with commisions and teamwork, in order to achieve -at least- proper results.
